Biography:
Mr. Sheppard grew up in a south-western suburb of Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Sheppard graduated cum laude from The Ohio State University in 2005, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Political Science and Criminology. Mr. Sheppard attended the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, where he studied to become a general practitioner. Mr. Sheppard graduated from Cooley Law School in 2008.
While attending Cooley Law School from 2005 through 2008, Mr. Sheppard worked as an intern for solo-practitioner D. Dennis Dudley, where Mr. Sheppard handled criminal cases, family law cases, workers compensation cases, social security disability cases, estate planning cases, and other general civil litigation. Additionally, Mr. Sheppard participated in the Sixty Plus Elder Law Clinic while at Cooley Law School, where he represented individuals 60 years of age and older with a variety of legal matters.
Mr. Sheppard previously worked with the law firm of Witzel & Zoeller, Lawyers P.C., where he handled complex state and federal criminal matters, personal injury cases, family law cases, and federal civil litigation. Mr. Sheppard was also Of Counsel for Witzel & Zoeller, where he represented a vast array of clients in multiple areas of the law.
Mr. Sheppard also previously worked for Jill Creech Bauer, PLLC in Flint, Michigan. While there, Mr. Sheppard represented clients in Genesee County and surrounding areas, including Shiawasee County, Saginaw County, and Lapeer County, in the areas of criminal law, family law, civil litigation, collection law, personal injury law, and property law.
Mr. Sheppard founded The Law Office of Eric J. Sheppard in November of 2008 and has practiced as a sole practitioner of the firm ever since the founding of the law firm. The Law Office of Eric J. Sheppard provides dedicated legal services in criminal defense, family law, estate planning, landlord tenant law, administrative law, and general civil litigation.
Mr. Sheppard has vast knowledge and experience in Michigan criminal law, and he has represented clients in felony and misdemeanor matters in over 30 counties throughout the State of Michigan. He has also represented family law cases and civil litigation cases throughout the State of Michigan. Mr. Sheppard is and has been a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Ingham County Bar Association, the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM), and the Genesee County Bar Association.
